Georgia Football: Week 6 at Auburn

  • Venue: Jordan-Hare Stadium
  • City: Auburn, AL.
  • Overall Record: Georgia leads 61-56-8
  • Last meeting:  Georgia won 27-6

The South’s Oldest Rivalry will happen earlier than usual but that could play into the Bulldog’s favor. Typically, when these two teams face off they’ve had 10-11 games under their belts, but with them playing in Game 6, it should give the Dawgs the edge.

Joining the multiple SEC teams rebuilding in 2021, Auburn will look to improve their 6-5 record from last season as the Tigers hired Bryan Harsin from Boise State to get them back to being contenders.

Auburn returns 15 starters from last year’s team, including starting quarterback Bo Nix.

He threw for 2,415 yards and 12 touchdowns with a 59.94% completion rate. Nix has a lot of game-time experience that can hurt a team if given the time.

The Tigers return their leading rusher, Tank Bigsby who carried the rock 138 times for 856 yards and five touchdowns while averaging six yards a carry.

Last year, Georgia held Bigsby to just 31 yards on the ground, but he and Nix connected seven times for 68 yards, so the Dawgs will have to watch for that this year.

Auburn managed to pick up former Georgia wideout Demetris Robertson out of the transfer portal, giving Nix an experienced guy he can trust after losing his top three receivers.

Hopefully, by this game, Georgia will have all of its injured players back, giving JT Daniels more weapons to use than he’ll need.

Last year, Georgia won 27-6, giving the Dawgs four straight wins over the Tigers and seven straight at home.

The Bulldogs’ offense had a balanced game against the Tigers, recording 240 yards through the air and 202 on the ground. Georgia shut down Auburn’s rush attack to just 22 yards and did a decent job in the passing game, giving up 177 yards.

Jordan Davis and the rest of the defense must mimic those results this season to allow the offense to get in a rhythm and make plays with ease. If you can keep their offense off the field, it’ll be harder to score.

While Georgia is better than Auburn on paper, the Bulldogs must avoid a 2017 disaster by staying focused and being smart on both sides of the ball. Most importantly, if there’s a chance to score, then trust your quarterback and get it into the endzone or trust the kicker.

Auburn will give the Dawgs a fight, but the Bulldogs will edge out the Tigers on the road to stay perfect.

Score Prediction: 35-14

Projected 2021 Record: 6-0
