It wasn’t pretty at all, but Georgia football found a way to get the win and leave Charlotte undefeated.

The deciding factor was that junkyard defense delivered a soul-crushing performance that included holding Clemson’s offense to just 180 total yards,  seven sacks, and a pick-six — which was the game’s only touchdown.

No one thought this game would be a 10-3 final or that Georgia’s defense would outscore the high-powered Clemson offense, but it’s a performance no Dawg fan will ever forget.

Georgia’s defense completely dominated Clemson’s offense in every single way. The three things they needed to do on defense to get the win — create havoc, hold them to under 100 yards and hold them to under 250 passing yards  — all happened.

The Bulldogs came in there looking to prove a point, and they did. This front seven of Georgia’s is everything it’s been advertised and then some. I’ve seen dominant defensive performances from the Dawgs in the past, but this one hit differently.

Enough of the Kirby Smart can’t win the big game because he did. He had a defense that shut down a confident offense and made them break. They delivered blow after blow, holding them to a field goal.

It got tight at the end, and PTSD of every big-game loss we’ve seen from Georgia, but it didn’t happen this time. Nope, that defense refused to break and lose.

JT Daniels and the offense put together 135 through the air and 121 on the ground, which is pretty balanced, but it left fans feeling underwhelmed. As Dawg fans, there are two things to remember, the biggest offensive weapons are hurt, and Clemson’s defense is just as good.

They got the job done and did enough to get the win. I’m not impressed by any means, but they were able to establish the run when it mattered and got three first downs at the end of the game to keep Clemson’s offense off the field.

Georgia’s defense took the soul of Clemson’s offense, and that is something not many teams have been able to do recently. The Dawgs did, though, and they showed how talented they are.

This win wasn’t pretty at all offensively, but if that defense stays healthy and continues to bring that energy to the table each week, the Dawgs have a really bright future ahead of them. Next week the Dawgs take on a scrappy UAB team.
