Georgia Football: 3 Sensational stats that defined the Dawgs win
There was one goal heading into Saturday’s game against UAB for Georgia football, and that was to get a dominant win and prove what happened against Clemson wasn’t a fluke.
After a 56-7 victory over the Blazers on Saturday, it was time to rewatch the game and assess just how dominant the Dawgs were.
Despite having a quarterback controversy all week, the Dawgs offense was explosive even with two of its top targets are still out with injuries.
Georgia’s defense was once again such a dominant force that they didn’t give up an offensive touchdown for the second straight week. Not to mention, there were a ton of guys who got playing time and still were able to hold the Blazers out of the endzone.
Regardless if you think UAB was a formidable opponent or not, they are more talented than the score showed.
The Blazers did an excellent job slowing down a stable full of running backs notorious for demoralizing defenses.
They eventually got it going, but it took a lot of effort. Georgia’s interior offensive line wasn’t the best, but they’re still working on getting the right lineup correct.
There were far more good things that happened on Saturday than there were bad things.
One of the best things to come out of this game was how the Dawgs handled it. They didn’t come off the throttle one time, even when they switched quarterbacks.
Staying aggressive, throwing deep into the fourth quarter, even with the pick-six from Carson Beck, was a move I loved seeing from Georgia’s offensive coaching staff — Even though that turnover gave up the goose-egg shutout.
Georgia did their job and showed college football they can be as dominant as they need to be against their opponent.
After deep-diving into the game, three key stats stood out and were deciding factors as to why they won and won big.
