1: Georgia football’s passing offense dominates with explosive plays

Georgia finally had the explosive offensive performance fans have wanted for the last few years, and surprise, surprise, it came from a former walk-on quarterback throwing it for almost 300 yards and nearly breaking a school record.

Before anyone could blink or watch the game because ESPN screwed up their schedule and decided to put an unranked Tennessee team on two channels, Georgia scored on their first explosive play of the game.

After Zamir White took off for two yards, the Dawgs faced 2nd and eight on the UAB 27-yard line. Stetson Bennett threw a perfect pass to Jermaine Burton for 73 yards and the first score of the game.

That explosive play set the tone for the rest of the game, and boy, it didn’t disappoint.

Two drives later, on the first play, explosive touchdown No. 2 happened. The Dawgs were up 14-0 at this point, and they weren’t close to being finished.

Bennett laced a bullet to true freshman tight end Brock Bowers, who outrun the UAB defenders for an 89-yard touchdown.

The third explosive play came in the Dawgs’ first drive of the second quarter. Bennett connected with speedster Arian Smith for 61-yards on the first play, again, to make it 28-0 in what seemed like a blink of the eye.

Bennett threw for two other touchdowns and a total of 288 yards, but as a whole, the Dawgs passing game finished 376 yards and six touchdowns.

Fans have been waiting on a performance like this regardless of opponent. It’s exciting to know that those weapons are growing in confidence. When JT Daniels returns, it will be a fun offense to watch, but when those who are injured come back, it will be an intimidating offense.

These three explosive touchdown passes set the tone for what the future looks like in Athens, and it’s bright.
