If anyone watched the Georgia football game against South Carolina, they know there was a special guest in attendance with a name that reigns supreme in college football history.
Named after his grandfather, the legendary Archie Manning, Arch Manning, a 2023 quarterback, was with his dad Cooper and his family in Athens on Saturday. The junior quarterback still has two years of high school, but it was obvious that he is the object of desire for Georgia.
Manning is a 5-star quarterback out of New Orleans and currently ranks in the 247Sports 2023 class as the No.1 overall player, quarterback and Louisiana player. He has the Manning name and already has stood out on the field. I mean, he is a Manning, so of course, he would.
The junior already has 12 offers from Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss, and six other schools.
Manning has 4,360 passing yards, 55 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions through two full years of high school ball. In his junior year, he played his first game of the season on Sept. 17, the day before he visited Athens. He went 19-of-34 for 238 yards with three touchdowns.
I’ve seen some big recruiting situations regarding quarterbacks, but if this kid has the talent and ability like his grandfather, dad and two uncles — this recruitment could be something special, and I mean something we haven’t seen before on the trail.
While it was kind of weird to see the Mannings in Georgia gear and wearing red, at the same time, it worked. I’m sure Ole Miss is a contender because Arch is a legacy, but don’t count out Georgia.
Even with Brock Vandagriff and Gunner Stockton in front of him, Arch could be better than both of them. Who knows, but I don’t see another quarterback issue either. Head coach Kirby Smart learned his lesson about whether Georgia fans want to believe that or not, so if Manning decides to come to Georgia, whoever wins the competition will start.
The fact that Georgia got the young man on an unofficial visit is a great sign, and once the team, fan base, media and students found out, boy, they put on a show. They should have, too, because he is a Manning.
I know I’m a broken record at this point about that, but to get a Manning in Athens after having to deal with the trauma his uncle gave Georgia in the 90s, oh, it feels good.

The UGA Paint Line had “We want Arch” on their backs, which got a ton of camera time.
It looked good, and they didn’t even do that for Justin Fields or any other recruits. If that gesture right there doesn’t tell you something, I’m not sure how to describe it to you.
Then AD Mitchell caught a touchdown pass right in front of him and celebrated right in front of him. That celebration looked like it had a purpose, but only Mitchell and those around him know for sure.
He got more screen time than South Carolina’s offense most of the game, along with his dad Cooper. This visit was enormous for Georgia, and while the kid is going to go other places, don’t be surprised if he shows up in Athens again.
Some former Dawgs like Arthur Lynch don’t think it’ll happen, and he will end up at Alabama with Nick Saban, but who honestly knows. If this season goes like many of us Georgia fans want it to, he could very well end up in Athens. Don’t hold your breath just yet, though, Dawg fans — he has two more years of high school before anything happens.
While I don’t think the recruiting process will be nasty for Manning, it will be cutthroat. This kid is a generational talent with two years to play. Georgia along with the other 11 schools that have offered, will roll out the red carpet. But of course, they would because, say it with me — he is a Manning.
There is a long way to go with this recruit, but Georgia let him know loud and clear on Saturday they want him.
