While Georgia football left Week 3 with a 27-point victory over the South Carolina Gamecocks, the finish wasn’t as strong as it should have been. Though, as Dawg fans, we tend to nitpick those moments instead of basking in the glory of getting a big win.

No game will ever be perfect because as a human race we cannot be perfect, so after calling the Dawgs out for a sloppy finish, I  thought it was only right to look into what did go right for Georgia.

J.T. Daniels returning as the starter produced a massive game through the air, and the Dawgs were able to run the ball better than the two previous weeks.

Georgia’s defense did a great job despite struggling in some pass coverage situations. That front seven continues to dominate and grow as a unit each week. While they did give up a touchdown this game, it was due to an alleged fumble that the referees flat out got wrong.

I’m sure that seems like an excuse, but when the refs get it that wrong, someone needs to say it, and I’ll be that person.

Even with three turnovers on the night, Georgia found a way to win the ball game in a big way. Granted, it should have gone smoother than it did, South Carolina is on its way to being a formidable opponent in the SEC East and could get a shock or two this season.

Georgia got complacent and the Gamecocks executed off that. However, enough about the negative things that happened, there were far more positive things.

Guys who have been waiting in the shadows for their moments stepped up in big ways like Nolan Smith and Channing Tindall. Freshmen continue to shine on offense despite the Dawgs still missing their biggest offensive weapons. Georgia is on their way to something special if they can continue to play like this, of course, refocusing and realizing you have to finish strong too.

Here are my three successful takeaways from Week 3 against South Carolina and how they helped the Dawgs get win No. 3.
