Georgia football: Blocked punt shows even special teams are elite
Georgia football has been elite in every aspect of the game since they kicked off against Arkansas at noon.
The fans showed up early, have been deafening, and have helped the defense become even more elite.
Georgia’s defense already has at least two sacks on the game and punched Arkansas in the mouth. If we’re honest, the Razorbacks look like deer in the headlights.
After the defense pushed back the Hogs deep into their own territory and a Nakobe Dean sack, Georgia’s special teams took the field for an Arkansas punt.
Walk-on Dan Jackson from Gainesville, Ga., busted through the line and blocked the punt sending it rolling in the endzone. Zamir White jumped on it and scored his second touchdown of the game.
After they blocked that punt, the crowd went bonkers, and you couldn’t hear yourself think. Georgia has clearly sent a message in the first quarter of a game for the second straight week.
White scored the game’s opening touchdown, then Kendall Milton finally got his first career touchdown to make it 14-0. Georgia’s defense continues to do its job, and now the special teams contributed to the madness.
The Dawgs are elite on offense, defense and special teams. We’ve been waiting for that unit to bust loose, and Will Muschamps’ group finally busted open, making something happen.
To be a great team, you have to be elite at every aspect of the game, and now Georgia fans see they are.
Georgia needs to keep the throttle down against the Hogs, and as long as this crowd stays in it as they have been, it could be a long day for the visiting team.
The Dawgs have made a statement so far in this game, and I have a feeling they are just getting started against the Hogs. Georgia continues to deliver blow after blow, sending a message to everyone in the SEC they are here to stay and one of the most elite teams in the country.
