Georgia Football: Dawgs in the NFL at the quarter mark
By James Kehm
Those who have not followed Matthew Stafford throughout his NFL career may think that this is a career rejuvenation. But really, Stafford is doing the same thing he has always done. The difference is, he is playing with a lot of talent around him for the first time in his career.
Those who just look at stats will think Stafford is an average, run-of-the mill quarterback. He is anything but and has immense respect from his peers. This is evident by Aaron Rodgers stating last year that No. 9 in Detroit does not get the credit he deserves.
For years, it was Stafford and Calvin “Megatron” Johnson and who else? If you are not a Lions fan, can you name another offensive weapon that Stafford had?
Now Stafford has multiple weapons to throw to, a competent offensive line, one of the best defenses in the league and an offensive minded coach.
Of course, I am writing this on the heels of his worst game of the season against Arizona, but the former Dawg is still off to a really special start.
