Georgia Football: 3 simple offensive keys to earn victory over Kentucky
By Rick Beach
Georgia football had another convincing win for the sixth week in a row, but this time it earned them a new No. 1 ranking — thanks to Texas A&M too, but that is beside the point.
Georgia rolled into Auburn and bullied their way to a 34-10 win. The Dawgs rushed for 201 yards, and Stetson Bennett threw for 231 yards. Auburn kept it close early, but Georgia was too powerful and leaned on Auburn for four quarters.
Stetson Bennett took control of the offense with starting quarterback JT Daniels still nursing his lat injury and ran it like a well-oiled machine. The injury list at Georgia is looking like an All-SEC ballot, yet the offense is still rolling up the yards, points, and wins off.
Georgia’s rushing attack seems to be getting to what most fans and coaches around college football expect. The Dawgs only had 36 rushing yards at halftime, but they kept chopping, and in the second half, Auburn’s front seven broke — that was never more evident than on Georgia’s final touchdown.
Zamir White took the handoff on the 15-yard line and immediately smacked into Zakoby McClain — Auburn’s best linebacker. White ran through McClain and then through Auburn safety Bydarrius Knighten’s attempted tackle for a touchdown that sealed the game.
This weekend No.11 Kentucky rolls in, along with ESPN College GameDay for the second time in three weeks. Kentucky is 6-0, they have beat Florida and LSU in back-to-back weeks, so they feel confident. Their 6-0 start is their best one since 1950.
Like Arkansas, Kentucky isn’t on the same level as Georgia. Here are three things the Dawgs need to do on offense to help keep that No.1 ranking.
