Dan Jackson
Stetson Bennett has gotten lots of praise and attention from Georgia fans for his status of being a walk-on QB who has done an admirable job at the quarterback position for the Dawgs. However, fellow walk-on Dan Jackson has also turned in quite the year as well.
Jackson is a 6’1 190 lb. defensive back from Gainseville, GA. He played at North Hall High School, where he played both running back and defensive back.
Overall, he had 1,785 all-purpose yards and 26 touchdowns in his high school career. He was also named 2018 Region 7-AAA player of the year.
He led the defense in tackles last week with six against Auburn. He is used often on special teams, and blocked a punt against Arkansas that Zamir White would recover in the endzone for a touchdown, essentially sucking the life out of the Razorbacks that day.
Many of Jackson’s teammates have praised him for his ability, including fellow defensive player Travon Walker:
"“Dan has always worked hard, never complained about anything. He’s just one of those guys that is positive always. He’s always there to pick you. He’s a great teammate.”"
He is set to have more playing time against Kentucky this Saturday, as Christopher Smith suffered a shoulder injury against Auburn last Saturday. Other DBs such as Ameer Speed might also be out with injury on Saturday.
Kentucky QB Will Levis has shown he can sling the ball around, but testing Dan Jackson often might prove to be a mistake. He has shown flashes of being a special player, and looks to be in line for another breakout game against the Wildcats.
