Jacob Eason homecoming: Former Bulldog can recharge his NFL career in Seattle
Former Georgia quarterback Jacob Eason has had quite the week. Indianapolis waived him on Tuesday, and not a full day later, the Seattle Seahawks claimed him.
The Colts originally drafted Eason during the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but Eason only played in one game after coming in for Carson Wentz, who left with an injury.
He completed 2-of-5 passes for 25 yards and threw an interception.
While it wasn’t a match made in heaven in Indianapolis, something about the West Coast continues to pull Eason back to it.
Eason is a Lake Stevens, Washington, native, which is only about 36 miles from Seattle.

There is no word whether or not the 6-6, 231-pound quarterback will make the 53-man roster, but with Russel Wilson out with a finger injury, anything is possible. However, there is a spot open as the Seahawks released Tre’ Flowers.
For now, Eason will have to learn the playbook and get acquainted with his new teammates, but seeing him in his home state screams success for him.
After he left Georgia, Eason had a successful career at Washington as he started 13 games in 2019. In that season, he threw for 3,132 yards, 23 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 64.2% of his passes.
Eason had all the potential in the world when he came out of high school, but it didn’t quite play out like everyone thought it would. Even though he transferred out of Georgia, most fans still consider him a Dawg and root for him in the NFL.
The move out of Indianapolis will likely be a good one for him as it’s a fresh start and a way for him to show a new coaching staff he has what it takes to stay on a 53-man roster.
After so much adversity, it’s time for Eason to prove himself, and Seattle is a great place to do it.
Seattle needs a quarterback with Wilson out, and Geno Smith has been the guy since. In the game and a half he has seen action in, the Seahawks have lost two straight.
Smith went 23-of-32 for 209 yards and one touchdown against the Steelers, but he also lost a fumble during that game.
