Georgia football has a point to prove on Saturday against the Florida Gators. So many times throughout the 99 other meetings between these two teams has Georgia laid down and lost.

However, that won’t be the case for the 100th meeting. Instead, it’ll be the moment the Dawgs are reborn from the ashes and show the world it is their time. After winning just eight games since 2000, Georgia has fallen short so many times in this game throughout the last couple of decades.

Georgia fans know all too well what this rivalry game can do, but head coach Kirby Smart coaches his team differently. With a 3-2 overall record against the Gators, he has the opportunity to have the best record against Florida through six seasons since Vince Dooley himself.

Smart knows how important this game is to Georgia’s confidence and how crucial it is to get a statement win. He will have his guys coached up and ready to go because letdown isn’t in this group’s vocabulary.

Falling short isn’t in their vocabulary either, and this is the beginning of what could be the next college football dynasty.

Florida isn’t a pushover, they never are, and if the Gators get up for any game, it’s the one against their hated rival Georgia.

Both teams have formidable offenses and defenses, but there is something different about Georgia’s “no-name” defense.

While the Dawgs offense will be potent on Saturday, it’ll be the moment Georgia’s defense makes a defining statement. They have the opportunity to become one of the best scoring defenses ever in college football, and this game will either set the tone or be where that winning average slips away for good.

Florida averages 34.43 points while the Dawgs give up just 6.6 points a game. If Georgia halts this high-power offense as it should, then the world will know this team is something special.
