3. Georgia football will see its wideouts have a big day

Georgia earned its eighth straight win, but the Dawgs didn’t emphasize the passing game once again.

Only two players recorded catches for Georgia against Florida. Kearis Jackson had three catches for 59 yards and the lone passing touchdown of the day. Ladd McConkey was the other Dawg as he had one catch for 7 yards. That was it. Georgia scored 34 points and only had 66 yards from their wide receivers. Incredible.

No, Georgia didn’t need groundbreaking passing numbers to beat the Gators, but the passing game is a great way to keep the offense explosive.

A strong pass attack takes the pressure off tight ends because they can get better matchups — forcing the stronger defensive backs to cover the wide receivers. Plus, utilizing the pass gives defensive coordinators something to plan for outside stopping the run.

Georgia has impressive tight ends, but more of the talented wideouts need to step up and make some plays. They are too capable not to have impressive passing numbers. The tight ends are a valuable asset but a wideout, other than McConkey, needs to stand up and shine.

Missouri is an excellent opportunity for these receivers to build their confidence that they are ready to play football again after being hurt. It takes time to heal, but the mental aspect is always the toughest to move past. This game could give them that chance because it’s time for Georgia’s offense to explode down the final regular-season stretch.

We all know Georgia will win this game easily and how they will likely jump out with a big lead to end it early. However, this game is in a perfect spot on the schedule to work on improving some things. Georgia knows they have four weeks to clean it up and get ready for Atlanta, but for now, it’s Missouri week, and the focus is on them.
