At no surprise, Georgia football is officially No.1 in the College Football Playoff rankings as the Dawgs prove to be the only confident choice.

The Dawgs have shown the world that four ranked victories and beating teams on average by 28.25 points, it’s evident that Georgia is the apparent No.1 squad.

Plus, that defense is the most elite squad in football, so it’s a good time to be a Georgia football fan.

There is no questioning who the best is, and it seems that gap is significantly wider than people realize.

Georgia football sits at No.1 on the CFP Rankings, but something doesn’t sit right with the rest of the top 10.

While the playoff committee got the No.1 team right, the rest of the top four and top 10 were interesting, but after the top-10, it was pretty standard.

That said, here are the playoff committee’s first rankings of 2021:

Some fans may feel like Georgia hasn’t played anybody, but if you look at the rankings, Kentucky and Auburn are both in the top-20.

However, if someone still feels like Georgia isn’t the team to beat, then they don’t like the Dawgs, and that’s okay. The Dawgs are having quite the year so far, and as long as they continue to play as they have been, they won’t leave that top spot.

Georgia’s next biggest test will be the SEC Championship, where they will play No.2 Alabama ‚— maybe.

The playoff committee thinks highly of Alabama’s past. While they are likely the second-best team in the country right now, they got beat by Texas A&M and haven’t looked like people expect them to.  However, they are No.2 and will be until someone else beats them, and even then, they may have to beat Alabama twice.

It seems a little disrespectful to Cincinnati and Michigan State, who are undefeated on the season and have wins over Notre Dame and Michigan under their belts — both now in the top-10 of the rankings.

This committee likes to look at head-to-head matchups, which is good because it kept Ohio State out of the final four.

Keeping the Buckeyes out of the top four right now was the best decision because they did fall to Oregon. College football has had a ton of upsets, and the Ducks have a big one, but still, they beat Ohio State in Columbus, which had to be the deciding factor.

Oklahoma coming in at No.8 was interesting because they are undefeated, but it’s understandable with the quarterback series. Still, the committee usually has a lot of respect for the Sooners, but this year it’s evident they have to put up or get left out.

Georgia is sitting pretty right now because they have done their job every single week they’ve played, so now they need to stay the course.

The committee is impressed with the Dawgs, and rightfully so. Now it’s time for the Dawgs to continue to impress by blowing their opponent out in the last four weeks of the regular season. Don’t let rankings affect anything, just focus on the opponent, win and repeat.
