After dismantling Florida in Jacksonville, Georgia football returns to Athens for a high noon showdown.
The Dawgs come into this game having already wrapped up the SEC East division title, thanks to their 34-7 rout over the Gators and Mississippi State’s upset over Kentucky — thanks, fellow Bulldogs, for handling the Wildcats, it’s much appreciated.
Georgia is a nearly 40 point favorite over Missouri, and it’s not hard to see why. The Tigers enter the game with a 4-4 record, but they are just 1-3 in SEC play, and their only conference win was against Vanderbilt, who they only beat by nine points.
This fine November day will also be a celebratory one between the hedges, as Georgia will welcome back former head coach Mark Richt, who will be honored during the game. Richt coached at Georgia from 2001-2015 and became the second-winningest coach in Georgia football history behind only Vince Dooley.
Coach Kirby Smart also tweeted an invitation to the Atlanta Braves. They defeated the Houston Astros Tuesday night to win their first World Series since 1995, to come to Sanford Stadium and celebrate with Dawg nation.
So even though it’s a noon kickoff, the stage is set to be a memorable day in the Classic City. Not to mention, Smart requested the fans get there early as he did with Arkansas. Georgia needs its fans, and the Braves will be there, so get to the stadium, EARLY.
There will be plenty of excitement surrounding this game on Saturday, and there are three players who I expect will heed Smart’s call to be elite and have a dominant game against Mizzou.
