Georgia football decided to let Missouri know who the No.1 team in the country is with a fourth-down touchdown pass from Stetson Bennett to Arian Smith.
The Dawgs came out a bit lackluster against the Tigers, and Missouri came ready to fight Georgia. However, offensive coordinator Todd Monken called a delicious fourth-down pass that the Tigers had no clue was coming.
It’s clear Missouri wants to stop the run, but if they continue to sell out like this on the run plays, they will wear down far faster than the Dawgs.
Bennett threw a perfect pass that only Smith could catch for 35-yards to score. He needed that pass to elevate his confidence a bit, and it indeed did. After struggling to run against the Tigers, Monken had to get creative.
It was a bold play call for a 4th-and-7, but it paid off for them. That touchdown pass woke the crowd up, and finally the 12th Dawg showed up to help out the defense.
On the following drive for Missouri, the Dawgs held them and forced a punt. Nolan Smith blasted through the line and blocked the kick. Dan Jackson tries to fall on it in the endzone but ends up getting a safety instead.
So after Bennett threw a perfect dime to Smith, the Dawgs defense followed it up with their own points.
All Georgia needed was that touchdown to light a fire under their tails and get things going.
However, that pass from Bennett should silence a lot of the hate he continues to get from Georgia fans. Both Bennett and JT Daniels are excellent teammates and there for each other. Regardless of who is playing, they love each other and will fight for each other.
Georgia football took a little bit of time to wake up, but that touchdown pass set off the first fireworks, and now it’s time to keep the throttle down against the Tigers.
