The best way to put what Georgia football did to Charleston Southern is they destroyed the Bucs and made the statement they needed to.
Georgia needed to win big, and they did just that by beating the Bucs 56-7, giving them their 10th straight win by at least 17 points, and it gives them their 15th straight win, which leads college football right now.
This game was over in the first quarter after Georgia scored 28 points in the first quarter and followed it up with 21 more points to make it 49-0 at halftime.
Those 49 points were the most scored by Georgia as they tied the 2011 squad who did it against New Mexico State for the most first-half points. Georgia scored at will, and the Dawgs’ defense enforced their will on the Bucs.
It was evident that the Dawgs wanted to make a statement after they allowed big man Jordan Davis to run it in and score the first points of the game.

Charleston Southern only scored points because of a wild play that resulted in points after Georgia picked off the quarterback, and one of the Bucs wideouts took the ball out of that guy’s hands and took it back for a score. They didn’t get their shutout, but the Dawgs did their job against Charleston Southern.
The Bucs were only able to get some momentum going once the Dawgs put in subs, and even then, they weren’t able to do much. Georgia did give up some late-game yardage that makes the Bucs look like they had more success than they did, and while that is frustrating, it’s nothing to complain about — these backups will learn from it and grow.
Charleston Southern finished with 126 offensive yards, with 58 through the air and 68 yards on the ground. While it was an incredibly dominant performance, Georgia could have held them to under 100 total offensive yards. Those young guys will learn, though, and get better.
Offensively, Georgia dominated in a big way, with three of the four quarterbacks throwing for at least one touchdown, 11 guys rushing for at least one attempt, and had 12 guys record one catch.
On the ground, Georgia finished with 32 carries for 233 yards and four scores. Davis scored the first, and then it was on from there. Zamir White led the way with four carries for 83 yards and a touchdown. James Cook had six carries for 57 yards and a score. Daijun Edwards was the fourth back to score as he had six carries for 21 yards.
Through the air, the three quarterbacks combined for 20-of-37 for 255 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions.
Stetson Bennett got the start, and he did a great job managing the offense for the short time he was in the ball game. He went 8-of-14 for 105 yards, two scores, and one interception. While he had the blemish on the first drive, he recovered and finished with a 57% completion rate.
Bennett showed us why he is the starting quarterback even if it’s against an FCS opponent, the way this offense runs with him looks so much better than with any other quarterback.
Georgia fans got to see JT Daniels as he went 7-of-12 for 73 yards and one touchdown. He was a bit rusty but did an excellent job for most of his reps. Carson Beck threw the other interception, but he also completed 5-of-10 passes for 77 yards and the final passing touchdown.
Brock Bowers continues to wow everyone as he broke records on Saturday, and the rest of the receiving corp did their job. Dominick Blaylock finally got some playing time as well.
And we cannot forget the punt return guys and how well they played — Kearis Jackson and Ladd McConkey put the Dawgs in excellent field position time after time, and the offense appreciated it.
Georgia just dominated the Bucs as they should have. Forget about the seven points because those don’t matter. Overall, the Dawgs won big and sent a message to the playoff committee that they will make moves to stay No.1 in the country even if they play an FCS team at noon.
Saturday was a moral victory for the Dawgs to get to 11-0 for the first time in a season since 1982 as they check off another historical moment. Georgia destroyed Charleston Southern, and there is no better way to put it.
They didn’t lay off because they felt bad, but head coach Kirby Smart knew these younger guys needed reps, so who cares if they had some late success — it doesn’t matter big picture-wise.
Georgia now has one game between them and a perfect regular-season record, and after this performance, there is a sneaky suspicion next weekend could get just as ugly.
