Georgia football: 3 simple things the offense does against Georgia Tech
By Rick Beach
3. Darnell Washington finally gets in the endzone
Eleven games into the 2021 season, and Georgia football tight end Darnell Washington has zero touchdowns. His receiving line is not impressive — seven catches for 122 yards and a goose egg in the scoring column.
Now that said, let’s not pretend Washington has not been a valuable asset to the offense. His blocking ability has been vital as he gives Georgia an extra tackle on the offensive line. That ability to help out on the offensive line only makes him a better football player. Plus, Georgia is big on asking their tight ends to block as much as they catch the football.
Washington has done great at blocking on running plays, and now he deserves a touchdown.
Washington should be a weapon with him standing at 6-7, especially in the red zone. However, because we have not seen it this season does not mean we will not.
Washington is about to finish his second season in the Classic City and has not caught a touchdown, but that ends Saturday in Bobby Dodd Stadium.
Georgia football needs to go in there and suffocate the Yellow Jackets like they’ve done the previous 11 opponents. This game cannot see the Dawgs come out sluggish but instead come out with a vengeance and absolutely dominate their rivals.
