Georgia football: 4 Dawgs that earned helmet stickers in exciting victory over Tech
A frequent visitor to the helmet sticker list, Georgia football inside linebacker Nakobe Dean sees himself on it once again. The junior led the team in tackles on Saturday against the Yellow Jackets and caused some havoc himself.
Dean earned six tackles, half a sack and three quarterback hurries on the game. He led the team in hurries, which means he was getting some serious pressure on the Tech quarterback Jordan Yates.
The general did it again. He led his defense to another shutout and didn’t even need to play the whole game. Dean flew around the field, and his half-sack came early on in the game as he earned it with fellow inside linebacker Quay Walker.
This sack came in the second quarter after the Dawgs jumped out to a 17-0 lead, and it delivered another momentum-crushing blow to Tech’s offense. While it wasn’t quite the hit that made Georgia Tech quit, it was one the Dawgs needed at the time.
Dean is such a special player and the best linebacker in college football right now. While he’s eligible for the draft, we all can hope he returns next season to lead this team and finish his degree.
But for now, Georgia fans need him to stay healthy and keep up the good work of being this field general. He will have a chance at some revenge on Saturday after last year’s loss to Bama, so he could wind up right back on this list next week if Dean plays as he should.
