This list wouldn’t be complete without Georgia football tight end Brock Bowers being on it. The true freshman reminded the world who he is on Saturday as he led the Dawgs receivers.

Bowers finished the game with three catches for 100 yards, averaging 33.3 yards a catch and two scores. He outran the entire Georgia Tech defense on his 77-yard touchdown, then scored a nine-yard touchdown later in the game.

That shorter touchdown pass was one he had to go up, grab and make sure he stayed in bounds, which he did. His concentration there looked like a fifth-year player, not a freshman.

There is no doubt that Bowers is the best tight end in college football as a freshman, and he doesn’t need any award to prove that — Saturday did enough of that.

His performance on Saturday put his name in the record books again as he surpassed Orson Charles’ record for most receiving yards by a tight end in one season.

With 10 touchdowns on the year, Bowers leads the Dawgs wideouts, and no one would have ever expected a true freshman to do so. At the same time, that stat kind of defines this team. Bowers was part of the group that had to grow up really fast when they got to Athens because the Dawgs needed them, and they kept fighting through adversity to get where they are today.

He has embraced this role and become a quarterback favorite between Stetson Bennett and JT Daniels. Bowers is a playmaker that has no fear, and Saturday showed that. His ability to catch the ball and outrun defenses is exceptional, and Georgia fans are incredibly thankful he is a youngster and not a veteran.
