At the beginning of each season, Georgia football fans from all around the country hope to see their Bulldogs compete for an SEC title and then for a national championship.

With the Dawgs finishing the regular season a perfect 12-0 for the first time in school history, they will make the playoffs no matter what happens on Saturday night. So take a deep breath, Dawg fans.

The last time the Dawgs saw themselves in the College Football Playoff was 2017, after getting a dominating win against the No. 2 Auburn Tigers.

That game was a must-win for the Dawgs because they fell to the Tigers earlier that season.

Georgia football did its job and will play in the playoffs regardless of SEC title win or not.

This year it’s different. It is not a must-win game for the Bulldogs, but how sweet would it be to knock off Alabama head coach Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide to claim their 14th SEC title in program history.

There are a few reasons the Dawgs can say that they will be in the playoffs no matter what.

The first reason is Georgia has dominated every team they played this season, something other College Football Playoff contenders have not done to their respected opponents.

Another reason is, the Dawgs are a perfect 12-0. Only Cincinnati, who is 12-0, sits at the No.4  spot behind two other one-loss teams. Either way, Cincinnati will not jump the Dawgs if Georgia somehow lost to Alabama on Saturday.

Throughout this season, the Dawgs have been the undisputed No. 1 team in the country, and have proven to be one of the best four teams, so even with a loss, that certainly will not change.

No matter what happens when the Dawgs take on the No. 3 Crimson Tide in Atlanta on Saturday, the Georgia Bulldogs will make their second appearance in the College Football Playoff.

Georiga football has done more than enough to secure their spot in the playoffs. Now it’s going to be whether or not they go into it as the No.1 team and undefeated or as a one-loss team ranked likely No.2 or No.3 depending on how the other conference championships go.
