ESPN College GameDay legend Lee Corso went the safe route by picking Alabama over Georgia football in the SEC Championship Game.

It started with Desmond Howard picking the Dawgs, and then Kirk Herbstreit chose Georgia because of their brotherhood bond. Celebrity guest picker Zac Brown picked the Dawgs claiming it is their day.

Then Lee Corso finished it out by playing “Sweet Home Alabama” and picked up the elephant head to pick the Tide over Georgia, and while that stung a little bit, we all need to remember what he said earlier in the season.

When the crew was at the Red River Showdown in mid-October, Herbstreit recorded Corso early that morning, and he dropped a piece of knowledge.

Corso didn’t choose Georgia football and took the safe route.

Herbstreit asked him if Georgia was better than Alabama, and Corso said no, but it was what he said after that made his pick this morning a little more understandable.

He thinks these two teams will meet again after this week, and that is when Georgia will get their revenge. While everyone else on the GameDay crew chose the Dawgs, leave it up to Corso to stick to his gut and choose Alabama.

We get it though, as an old-school head coach, it’s hard to pick Georgia when the last six games have ended as they have. Plus, Corso seems like he wants Georgia to beat them before thinking they’re better than the Tide. Understandably coach, but come on now, why not buck the system and pick the team who deserves it more?

Georgia already has a lot to fight for today, and now Corso picking against them gives the Dawgs one more reason to beat up on the Tide. Well, it at least gives the fans another reason to be a little bit louder.

The Dawgs have already punched their playoff ticket, so regardless of what happens today, they are still in, but man, it would be sweet to prove Corso wrong and beat the Tide. It’s time for Georgia to channel all that energy of coming up short and enforce their will on Alabama. The Padawan becomes the Jedi Master today, and it’s going to be a Dawg fight.
