Georgia football may have fallen short of their 14th SEC championship title, but the freshman tight end Brock Bowers proved that he was the most special player on the team with his performance.

The freshman should be an All-American this year. He has been such a force for the dogs that it’s uncanny. There’s nothing this young man cannot do.

Bowers led the team with 10 catches for 139 yards and one touchdown. That performance tied the school record for touchdown catches in a single season. The record tied Terrence Edwards’ who caught 11 touchdown passes in 2002.

This game also marked his fourth 100-yard rushing receiving performance on the season. He has 47 catches for 791 yards and 11 scores with at least one game to play.

Georgia football has an exceptional talent in Brock Bowers that’ll be a force the next couple of seasons.

Not to mention that performance was also an SEC championship game record for most catches by a tight end.

It wasn’t just his physical performance that stood out, but his grit and determination to not quit or give up on this team.

There were multiple times he made a big catch that helped keep Georgia drives going. How is just a freshman leading the team in something like this? He acts like he is a fifth-year senior who has played in multiple big games, and instead, he’s just a true freshman who has the God-given ability to play football.

Bowers is unique, and Georgia is fortunate to have him on their team. In years past, he would go to Alabama or stay in California, but instead, he decided to come to Georgia, and it’s such a blessing for the Dawgs.

He deserves the Mackey Award, but that won’t happen this year. Instead, he will just have to win it next year. The awards don’t matter if the team falls short, and his determination and refusal to give up is something every Dawg fan should note. When a lot of the Dawgs just fell flat, he kept pushing, even after tweaking something.

Bowers played through, made some incredible catches, and the future is so bright with him at the tight end position. Between him and Darnell Washington, the Dawgs would have had a longer night than they already did.

Georgia football needs to swallow this loss for what it is, a reality check, and start working on the playoffs. No time off, just keep working and pushing for that end goal because they should beat whoever they play in the semifinals and then get their rematch with Bama for all the marbles. Thankfully that game isn’t in Mercedes Benz Stadium.
