Georgia football fans, the early signing day period is officially a week away as the coaches are hard at work on the road cleaning up loose ends to sign what might be the best class in head coach Kirby Smart’s short time in Athens.

While it may seem absurd, the loss to Alabama will help the Dawgs on the recruiting trail instead of hindering them. How does this loss help Georgia finish this recruiting class strong?

The Dawgs can tell prospects that we may have fallen short, but we feel confident you could help us finish the drill if you sign with us.

Georgia football will use their Alabama loss to its advantage to close on top-ranked recruiting class.

Even though this team is full of highly recruited athletes, there is always room for improvement. The 2022 recruiting class has a lot of positions the Dawgs will need moving forward if they want to continue this dominant-style play.

It didn’t take the coaches long to get on the road after Saturday’s loss, including making their rounds for in-house visits. The staff has been busy the last few days as pledges continue to post those visits on Twitter.

Those players were likely told, hey, we’re so excited for you to come in and help us get back to the SEC Championship game. We know you can help us finally beat Alabama. While we cannot confirm that for sure, using this loss as a tool to make players feel like they are the missing piece to the puzzle seems to be something coaches would use.

While they were busy visiting pledges, one of the most prominent members of the 2022 class, 4-star quarterback Gunner Stockton earned the Gatorade Georgia Player of the Year award for his efforts.

He has rewritten the Georgia high school football record books this season, so it came as no surprise that he earned this honor.

His high school career included 13,652 passing yards, 177 touchdowns and just 17 interceptions.

Stockton’s senior season was incredible and downright near perfect. The quarterback completed 236-of-331 passes for 4,134 yards, 55 touchdowns and one interception. This year included seven games with at least five passing touchdowns.

He completed 71.3% of his passes this year, averaged 17.5 yards an attempt, and broke Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence’s records.

Stockton also finished the season recording 137 rushes for 956 yards, averaging seven yards a touch and 15 scores — including five 100-yard rushing performances.

Georgia has a few slots left in this historic class as they will likely sign 28-29 players for the 2022 class. The Dawgs will likely try and fill those final few spots with defensive linemen, wideouts, and probably defensive backs — both corners and safeties. However, it’ll depend on what the Dawgs also see they could get out of the transfer portal as well.

These secondary players the Dawgs are eyeing should hear the pitch about being a contributor right away because Georgia desperately needs depth back there.

Currently, Georgia has the No.1 overall recruiting on 247Sports.

The Dawgs have three 5-stars, 14 4-stars and seven 3-stars currently pledged. They are 2.13 points ahead of Texas A&M, who is No.2 right now, but with signing day, the Dawgs should finish as the top-rated class of 2022, reclaiming the title after finishing No. 4 last season.

This Alabama loss could end up helping Georiga finish with a better class than initially planned, if that is even believable.
