Georgia football senior nose tackle Jordan Davis can now call himself a Bednarik and Outland trophy winner, proving to the world that a big man can win two of college football’s top awards.

Since Davis wasn’t a Heisman Trophy finalist, it’s only right he won these two awards.

He has been such a force for the Dawgs the last four years, growing into one of the most feared men in the SEC, now he finally can officially claim that title.

Davis became the second Bulldog ever to win the two awards, joining David Pollack in the Bednarik club and Bill Stanfill in the Outland club.

Georgia football stud Jordan Davis proves big men deserve the big trophies too.

He joined an even more elite company claiming they won both these trophies. Ndamukong Suh, Aaron Donald are the only two other defensive guys to claim both awards in the same season — now that puts what it means to win both into perspective.

Davis is one of the biggest components of Georgia’s defense and has proven his worth all year. He has done a great job opening up holes and allowing his teammates to make big plays. Davis is selfless and does whatever it takes to anchor that defensive front.

Through 13 games, Davis has recorded 28 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and nine quarterback hurries. He was also in on two of the four blocked kicks.

Some other fanbases may feel like Davis deserves this honor, but they are just salty about their player not getting chosen. Davis is one of the most influential players for Georgia. When he plays well, that defense is unstoppable.

Regardless of how he played in the one game against Alabama, Davis has dominated all year long. He will rally and seek revenge because there is a reason Davis came back to play his final year.

To make that sacrifice instead of making millions of dollars tells everyone exactly what kind of player he is. Now look at him — he is the Bednarik and Outland trophy winner.

Only two other players in college football can claim they won these two in the same year, and Davis deserves to be among their company.

Davis is the best defensive player in college football and the best interior lineman, no matter what anyone else claims.

Defensive line coach Tray Scott turned a 3-star into a Bednarik and Outland trophy winner, he is the one to brag about, but Scott gets his article.  He transformed this big bear into one of the best defensive linemen and likely a first-round draft pick.

Georgia is lucky to have Davis on its defensive front because he is a massive reason the Dawgs had a strong defense. He helped lead the pack of head hunters like Nakobe Dean, Channing Tindall and the rest of the lot.

No one is more deserving of joining this elite club than Davis. While some may not care about college football awards, this young man did what many couldn’t, and for that, he deserves all the praise.
