Georgia football continues to see its signing day momentum surge with its second pick-up on Tuesday — make that two flips in one day for the Dawgs.
On Tuesday, the Dawgs picked up 4-star wide receiver Chandler “CJ” Smith around noon, and then 5-star cornerback Daylen Everette pledged to Georgia in the early evening.
The Dawgs have reclaimed the No.1 class ranking on 247Sports with 27 commitments.
Georgia football has all of the momentum as Early Signing Day is just hours away.
Everette came as a bit of a surprise because it seemed like he would wait until the morning, but his pledge sends the Dawgs momentum soaring to another level. The former Clemson commitment is why Georgia is once again the top-ranked class.
His pledge also gives Georgia one of the best defensive back classes ever, and it’s not close. One piece to that puzzle is missing who should commit on Wednesday, but still, anyone else is just icing on the cake.
The Dawgs could use Smith as a speedster on special teams and running routes. He is a solid pick-up as well.
The Dawgs didn’t necessarily need this momentum heading into Early Signing Day, but they will take it for sure. Georgia is looking to close out the 2022 cycle with a bang, and getting three pledges two days before the big day is a huge plus.
It’ll take a lot for the Dawgs not to finish No.1 overall, and at this point, they might as well engrave Georgia football on the recruiting crown. Head coach Kirby Smart and his staff put so much emphasis on solid recruiting classes, and it’s only fitting they keep producing them like this.
While some years will be better than others, this 2022 class is a big one for Smart and his staff. They will be the ones who keep the standard at what it has been the last six years with Smart, and they must understand this.
Adding guys like Everette and Smith is huge because they add depth and talent to two areas Georgia can always use. Whether someone de-commits from Georgia or not, the Dawgs have so much momentum. Tomorrow will be a blast to watch. Again, some guys could be leaving, but it’s important to remember there will be someone better who replaces them.
We’re not saying that will happen, but it’s something to think about with the amount of momentum circling the Dawgs right now.
For now, though, Georgia fans need to enjoy landing these two guys the night before the big day. It should be a good omen for Wednesday.
