. . Darnell Washington. . player. 814.

Another unlikely name, but someone who could transfer is the Big 0, Darnell Washington.

He came into the 2021 season safely, assuming that he was and would continue to be the No.1 tight end in Athens.

No one, including Washington, could foresee the monster season that Brock Bowers was about to have and what a season Bowers has had. He has been sensational and has broken all manner of school records. Lest you have been living in a cave in 2021, let me remind you that Browers delivered 11 touchdowns from 47 receptions for 791 yards in his freshman season in the SEC.

Meanwhile, Washington’s season got off to a slow start suffering from a foot injury at the beginning of the season, which kept him out of the first four games. He has seen action in nine games, where he caught nine balls for 145 yards and one touchdown — a big one that came in the SEC Championship game.

John Fitzpatrick has been as consistent as anticipated continuing his good form from last season. The best part about how Georgia handles their tight ends is that there is no pecking order. They all play.

Plus the Dawgs are bringing in 2022 signee Oscar Delp, who is already practicing with the team for the bowl game. The tight end room is full, but that isn’t a bad thing.

So it is possible that the 6-7 sophomore from Las Vegas could be getting frustrated and look to move on. However, history tells us he should pause for reflection as the SEC is a place where anything can happen.

A healthy Washington will have a part to play in the climax to Georgia’s season. He needs to seize the chance and grab it. It’s time for the Dawgs to use him, and if they can do that, he could stick around.

He will likely stick around, but it’s something to think about because his lack of production could push him to another school.
