Georgia football isn’t generally known for its tight ends, but it eliminated those discussions for good this year. Between true freshman Brock Bowers and sophomore Darnell Washington.

Bowers led the Dawgs in receiving yards and touchdowns while Washington was more of a force blocking. He did finally catch a touchdown in the SEC Championship Game, but after missing the first four games, he had to do a lot of catching up.

PFF made it official as they tweeted out that this was the highest-graded duo in college football.

Georgia football proved they have the best tight end duo this season.

Bowers currently has 47 catches for 791 yards and 11 touchdowns. He averages 16.83 yards a catch and 60.85 yards a game.

He carried Georgia on his back in the SEC title game and kept the Dawgs in the ballgame as long as he could. Bowers did make some mistakes, but we got to remember he is a freshman, and he will only learn from them.

Washington had nine catches in nine games for 145 yards and one touchdown. He averaged 16.11 yards a catch and a game.

PFF graded Bowers at 92.2 and Washington at 85.5, which is pretty dang impressive. The Dawgs utilized both of them in different ways but still were both extremely important to the team’s success.

Finally, Georgia used their tight ends like we’ve been waiting on for years. So many times have we seen two-tight end sets just for those guys to block.

Since Orson Charles, the tight ends at Georiga seemed to have been ignored, but this season the Dawgs emphasized them, but when they do work as they did, it’s only understandable.

Bowers was unstoppable in so many ways, and Washington did his part. Hopefully, the Big-O will stick around and give Bowers a partner in crime and keep the TEU trend around for another year longer.

No one cared who won the John Mackey Award because the world saw the best tight end didn’t get acknowledged. Bowers proved to the whole world why he is the best, and now as a duo, they give Georgia the TEU title.
