Georgia football offensive key vs Michigan: Use Bennett’s legs

The name of Stetson Bennett is definitely a name you expect to be on a list of Georgia offensive keys, and also a name that invokes emotion — both good and bad — from the fan base. Stetson Bennett will undoubtedly be QB1 for this game, and the thing that sets him apart is his ability to run the ball.

Keeping on read-option plays will be key, as well as a good way to help contain Michigan’s ferocious defensive ends. Running RPOs will use their aggressiveness against them. If they crash on the option Bennett will need to be able to keep and get to the edge. If they do not crash then Georgia’s running backs (behind a hopefully resurgent offensive line) can gash the defense.

Nothing will happen though if Bennett gives to running back every play. If he fails to ever keep Georgia could find themselves in trouble offensively, just as they did against Alabama.

Against Tennessee and Auburn, Bennett had some big-time runs by key times in the game. He needs to trust himself on the read and take advantage.

Bennett has been very effective on play-action this season. Keeping Hutchinson and Ojabo honest will be tough, but key for this offense.
