Georgia football defensive backs: B

The weakest part of the Georgia football defense remains the secondary, as they gave up the late Michigan touchdown on a blown coverage. David Daniel lost his man, and he went right by him and caught the ball to score. While it didn’t really matter, it’s still something to consider when grading this unit.

That mistake pushed them down to a B grade even with two interceptions on the day.

Derion Kendrick did a fantastic job as he brought down both picks for the Dawgs and got to don those savage turnover pads.

Plus, Georgia gave up 237 yards through the air, and a 43-yard pass, so this group has to tighten up before playing Alabama again. They are an extremely thin group in terms of depth, and it got even thinner when Christopher Smith got ejected for targeting in the first half. However, Dan Jackson did a great job coming in for him.

The Wolverines averaged 13.2 yards per completion, and that is unacceptable when you got a group that Georgia has. Again, depth plays a big part here, but it’s time for them to shut it down again.

They need to get ready for another war, and while their performance against Michigan was good enough, it must be 10 times better against Alabama.

This secondary is on track to be just as elite as the rest of the defense, but they make us nervous for now.
