Georgia football has a full quarterback room that includes a couple of 5-stars, a 4-star who should be a 5-star, and a walk-on who led them to a national title game appearance.

On Monday, Oklahoma quarterback Caleb Williams announced on Twitter he would enter the transfer portal, and the rumors to Georgia are already circling. He said in the Twitter post that he could end up staying at Oklahoma but is keeping his options open.

The Dawgs recruited Williams out of high school but went with 5-star Brock Vandagriff, a hometown kid with a ton of moxy himself. 5-star JT Daniels, along with former walk-on and current starting quarterback Stetson Bennett, both could come back for another year. Plus, Georgia just signed 4-star Gunner Stockton, who is already with the team practicing.

Georgia football doesn’t need Caleb Williams when they have quarterbacks who are just as talented.

Where does Williams fit in this scenario? He doesn’t because why come to Georgia if he could possibly get beat? We’re not even mentioning Carson Beck, the backup before losing his job to Bennett and now Daniels.

Williams is one of the best quarterbacks out there, but why would Georgia forget about the talented ones on their roster already? Sure, college football is changing, and the transfer portal is like free agency, but something doesn’t sit right.

Georgia fans wanted to give Vandagriff a chance three weeks ago if Daniels wasn’t going to be the option. What happened to that? Just because Williams is talented doesn’t mean he fits into this offensive scheme.

Williams could fit in anywhere, but this quarterback room is full. Could Georgia benefit from his talents? Possibly so, but at the same time, are we just ignoring that Vandagriff and others are working their tails off to learn the system and maybe start themselves?

Beck could transfer out, but if Williams came, Georgia could see other quarterbacks leave too, which could end up causing a depth issue which the Dawgs just got away from after losing Jacob Eason and Justin Fields back-to-back. Not to mention the whole Jamie Newman situation, which left the Dawgs in a predicament.

Are Georgia fans forgetting about this thing and how it put the Dawgs in a tight spot?

We’re not putting down Williams, and we don’t think he isn’t good enough to play at Georgia, but there is already a lot in place for the current quarterbacks. Head coach Kirby Smart has proven they can go to the portal to get a quarterback easily, but now he has a room full of guys who are just as talented. They’ve just had to work their way up the roster.

Williams would make a better fit somewhere where they need a quarterback. Auburn comes to mind. Staying at Oklahoma would be smart for the young man, or maybe even following Lincoln Riley to Southern California.

I’m not saying he wouldn’t compete and beat everyone out at Georgia, but at the same time, we don’t know. Adding Williams would be exciting for Georgia football, but at the same time, it doesn’t seem like a good move for the Dawgs.

Right now, it’s all rumors, and we all know how fans love a good rumor. Who knows, there could be some depth to the talk, but at the same time, Georgia football needs to think about the implications before making a final decision. Does Georgia need another quarterback? No.
