Georgia football fans know all too well about rat poison and how Alabama head coach Nick Saban loves to use that saying.

After the SEC Championship Game, the first thing he said was, “thanks for all that rat poison this week.” The defending national title winner shouldn’t worry about what others say because it’s theirs to lose until they lose their crown.

Georgia’s last hump is Alabama and Saban. While we’re all worried about what the media says, the Dawgs’ biggest rat poison is Saban himself. He plays like the Tide is the underdog and knows just the right things to say to be respectful of other teams.

Nick Saban is the biggest rat poison for Georgia football because he is the last obstacle.

I’m not putting him down for that at all, but at the same time, he takes everything said about another team and spun it in the Tide’s favor.

When in reality, the Tide doesn’t need any extra help. They’ve got great coaches and Saban, who is the modern era, Bear Bryant.

Sure the SEC Championship game was the first time in a long time the Tide was not the favorites, and Saban used that to fuel his team. He knows how good his football team is because they already beat the Dawgs. Saban doing that is fine, but to now think they are underdogs and Georgia is so dominant it doesn’t seem genuine.

Georgia has a mental block when it comes to Alabama, but it’s time to cancel that noise out and let Saban and his people talk all they want. Saban doesn’t need this much bulletin board material to fire up his team. They have won seven national championships under him, does he really need all this stuff?

No. He doesn’t, but Saban knows it can be beneficial, which is fine, but at the same time, this year is when that ends for the Dawgs. Instead of giving Alabama compliments or anything, the message from Georgia should be about them focusing on themselves.

Georgia needs to play within itself to win a national championship over Alabama, so if the Dawgs don’t give Saban anything, then he can’t be rat poison anymore. All droughts come to an end at some point, and it’s time for him to get a taste of their own medicine. Sure Georgia is the small favorite according to the oddsmakers, but we all know they are the actual underdogs.
