Georgia football must win the turnover battle

Georgia football not only struggled to get pressure on Bryce Young but to force turnovers as well.

The Dawgs had one forced fumble, but they didn’t recover it. Recording zero turnovers is one of the reasons Alabama’s offense was able to hold onto the momentum for most of the game.

If Georgia can force a couple of turnovers instead of coughing up a couple of them, it will only help the Dawgs. This defense has 14 interceptions on the year, 10 forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries, so they know how to create enough havoc to make this feel like it isn’t too much to ask.

The Dawgs need to make Young make a mistake. He isn’t invincible to interceptions. The Dawgs just need to make sure they pay attention to him and where the ball is going. Derion Kendrick showed how beneficial that was against Michigan when he saw an overthrown ball to intercept it in the endzone and step in front of the Michigan wideout for his first pick.

There is no reason those savage pads should stay cooped up against the Tide on Monday. Pop Young and make him fumble the ball. Make the running back cough it up, or even earn yourself an interception because it’s something this group can do if they stick to the way they play.
