Georgia football fans soak this moment in and remember it because the Dawgs are national champions for the first time in 41 years. The Dawgs took down Alabama 33-18 to win it all, and the emotions are flowing.
When the Stetson Bennett fumble happened, it felt like another letdown and another year of coming up short, but this football’s team resilience and fight wouldn’t allow it.
It was a defensive battle until the Dawgs got the ball back after that questionable fumble. Then Georgia said not today Alabama and did what it took to win the 2022 College Football Championship Game.
Georgia football ended the 41-year drought and is the 2022 college football national champions.
After that fumble from Bennett, the Dawgs flipped a switch and found a way to get the offense rolling.
However, after the game, when Bennett told Holly Rowe, “I wasn’t going to be the reason we lost,” we felt that, and it shows just how much that young man loves this team. Bennett went 4-of-4 for 82 yards and two touchdowns after that fumble. He stepped up when it mattered most and delivered.
That young man deserves all the praise, and even with him not playing his best game tonight, Bennett got it done regardless.
The haters can be quiet now because that young man did the thing. Bennett didn’t need to throw more than 30 times to beat the Tide or win a national championship. He finished the game 17-of-26 for 224 yards and two touchdowns.
The offensive line got the right push, and the running backs did their thing.
Zamir White and James Cook both ran with a purpose refusing to let Alabama hold them from achieving their destiny. White led the team with 13 carries for 84 yards and one score. Cook had six carries for 77 yards.
Everyone did their job on Monday night, and they were finally rewarded for it. With all the penalties and things that went wrong for Georgia, they found a way to win and finally got over the hump.
As surreal as it feels right now, this win really happened, and the Dawgs finally ended the seven-game drought to Alabama. Wow can someone pinch us because this doesn’t feel real, but it is.
Alabama refused to hand the game to the Dawgs. Georgia had to fight so hard to win, and they left it all on the field. They wanted to leave a legacy, and lord have mercy, they did. This defense did a fantastic job putting the right amount of pressure and got a pick-six when it mattered most.
True freshman Kelee Ringo caught that pass and ran it all the way back, sealing the deal at 33-18. Holy cow, what a moment for that young man and the defense to close out this season as national champions.
This defense put pressure on Bryce Young and did what they wanted to do. Nakobe Dean, Jordan Davis, Lewis Cine, and the rest of that unit played with a vengeance and overcame every obstacle that stood in their way.
They got the big block to avoid Alabama going up more, and that point of the game was huge. Even with them tired in the fourth quarter, they found a way, and they’ve left their legacy as the first Georgia team in 41 years to win it all.
It’s such a sweet feeling to be the national champions, and the Dawgs deserved it. They earned it, and it’s about time they are the ones celebrating. Enjoy the celebration Dawg Nation and stay tuned for the rest of our coverage.
