Georgia football TE, Darnell Washington

The biggest name on this list that Georgia football cannot lose to the transfer portal is Darnell Washington.

While Georgia has a pretty tight end room after bringing Oscar Delp in the 2022 recruiting class, Washington needs to put his foot down and secure his role.

He will be the veteran in the group if he chooses to come back, so it’ll be his time to shine.

This week, there have been some rumors about how Washington will be the next to announce putting his name into the transfer portal and even went as far as to delete all the Georgia stuff on his social media pages, but that seemed to change.

All the Dawg stuff is back on there, and it seems the staff has convinced him to stick around for a while longer. Washington needs to make himself known and use that size to his advantage. If he wants to continue playing tight end, he has to become more aggressive as a pass-catcher. The blocking ability is there, but it’s time to get the ball into his hands more often.

In 2021, Washington finished with 10 catches for 154 yards and one score — the one in the SEC Championship Game. It seemed like he was allowed one catch each game, and that was it. Georgia has to get a guy like Washington involved more often because he is 100% of a mismatch every single snap.

Next. A useful Georgia football 2022 roster tracker. dark

Georgia football has to find a way to keep these three names on their roster heading into the 2022 season because they are all playmakers who are waiting to bust open onto the scene. With so many guys graduating from the 2021 class, they have the chance to do so and become the next great Dawgs.
