Jalen Carter is an exceptional talent as a Georgia football defensive lineman. As a sophomore, he was doing more and wreaking as much havoc as the veterans.

Some may even feel like he is a veteran, but Carter will only be a junior this fall. This year will be his moment to take over the spotlight and remind people that there was someone more talented behind Jordan Davis.

We’re not discrediting what Davis did during his time in Athens, but we say that Carter could be better than his good friend.

Georgia football will see Jalen Carter become the greatest defensive lineman ever in the school’s history.

As a sophomore, sharing the load with DeVonte Wyatt and Davis, Carter finished the season with 37 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, one breakup and 32 quarterback hurries. Oh, and he blocked two kicks while on special teams and led blocks for a couple of touchdowns — Carter does it all.

Wyatt finished with two more tackles, but Carter was better at everything else.

Carter is a generational type athlete, and now that he is the star of the show, Georgia fans are about to see just how high his ceiling is.

PFF ranked Carter as the top returning interior defensive lineman over Clemson’s Bryan Bresee and Pittsburghs’ Calijah Kancey.

He earned an 89.7 pass-rush grade, tied at the top for last season. PFF said he was also first in the pass-rush win rate at 18.5% and second in the pressure rate at 13.4%.

Those two stats aren’t the only thing Carter succeeded at last season as he was outstanding against the run, too, as PFF ranked him No.1 by four percentage points in that area.

Carter was doing work as a sophomore, and that was with him sharing the load. Now, it’s safe to assume there will be someone sharing it with him this upcoming season, but he is the only proven guy for the Dawgs right now.

With him being the only guy with a lot of experience, he can take 2022 and turn it into a massive scouting tape to send to the NFL scouts.

Carter is going to be a monster this season. As long as he stays healthy and continues to do what he has in his first two seasons, this young man will smoke any records standing in his way. There could be a few more trophies in the football facilities with his name on them.
