Georgia football 5-star defensive end, Mykel Williams

Most people know that Georgia football signee Mykel Williams is an exceptional athlete.

He has the track record to prove it. Now it’s time for him to show what he has on the college football stage, and even though there have been times where 5-stars like Williams haven’t always played up to their rating, I don’t think he will be one of those players.

According to 247Sports Composite rankings, Williams ranks as the No. 4 overall, the No.2 defensive lineman and the No.2 player out of Georgia.

He is a 6-5, 265-pound machine that has caused problems on the football field throughout high school. Williams finished his high school career with 207 tackles, 59.5 tackles for loss, 41.5 sacks and eight forced fumbles.

Georgia needs someone to replace Travon Walker, who left for the NFL Draft, and Williams could be that guy. He needs some weight in certain places, but his natural ability will put him on the field before the end of the season, and a great guy to compliment the edge while Jalen Carter bulldozers up the middle.

It’s hard to say that he will start Week 1 against Oregon, but this young man has a fire inside him to compete, and he will be another great piece of the 2022 Georgia defense. The Dawgs want to have multiple rotations they trust can stop offenses, and that is where he could contribute for now.

However, Williams could flat out exceed all expectations and be that guy. He practiced during the playoff preparations, so he knows some stuff already. Williams is a force of nature, and once he fills out a little bit, offenses are going to worry about him like they did Walker.
