Georgia Football: The top 21 moments that made 2021 epic
7. James Cook’s playoff performances against Michigan and Alabama
James Cook put on a show and skyrocketed his draft stock with his two playoff performances.
In his hometown of Miami, the senior had three catches for 99 yards and six carries for 32 yards. Of those three catches, one of them was a 39-yard touchdown that gave Georgia a 34-3 lead over Michigan.
Cook had a moment, and it’s worth the No.7 spot because he did it in Miami in a semifinal playoff game. The Dawgs needed him to step up and play like he did against Tennessee and Cook did. He also had a 53-yard catch that set up a 28-yard Jack Podlesney field goal in this game as well.
While he wasn’t as dominant on the ground, we all remember the big touchdown catch that sealed the deal against the Wolverines.
In the national championship, Cook had a 67-yard run that set up a 1-yard Zamir White touchdown in the third quarter that gave Georgia a 13-9 lead. That touchdown was the Dawgs’ first of the night, and it was because the run game finally got going.
He finished the night with six carries for 77 yards and two catches for 15 yards.
Cook finished with 223 total yards in those two games on 17 touches and one touchdown. Cook did his job, showed up for his team, and helped set up some big plays.
