19. Arian Smith’s 61-yard touchdown against UAB

Week 2 was a special one for Georgia football. It was quarterback Stetson Bennett’s first start of the season, which proved to be a historical one at that. He started the game going 5-of-5 for 245 yards and four touchdowns. Bennett finished 10-of-12 for 288 yards and five scores.

However, Bennett’s performance isn’t what we’re discussing in this slide. Though, he was part of it.

His 61-yard touchdown throw to Arian Smith is the No. 19 best moment in the 2021 season because it showcased another weapon the Dawgs had that wasn’t named Jermaine Burton or Brock Bowers.

It was also the fifth consecutive completion for the Mailman and the fourth touchdown in the first half.

Smith’s speed allowed him to outrun the Blazers’ defense and catch a beautiful pass from Bennett, giving the Dawgs a 28-0 lead in the second quarter. Georgia won this game in the first half, and the only reason UAB scored was because of the backups getting reps in the fourth quarter.

Georgia had three touchdown catches of 61-plus yards in the first half, and Smith made one of them.

Smith is so fast, and that defensive back never stood a chance. He never got within 10 yards of him in coverage. That ability to pull away from defenders and be that wide open is why it’s No. 19 on the list. When Smith gets healthy, the Dawgs will have quite the weapon.
