Another recruiting cycle has come and gone for Georgia football, and even though the Dawgs didn’t finish No.1 overall, they put together one of the most complete classes. Every need got checked off in this 2022 group, and Georgia picked up some studs from top to bottom.

It was a solid year for SEC programs, but the three on top really separated themselves. The Dawgs finished with the No.3 class, but the SEC saw a clean sweep claiming all top-3 spots and 11 in the top 30.

Texas A&M opened a whole new level of recruiting that some coaches will eventually take advantage of, but one that very few can do on the same level the Aggies did.

The Dawgs were able to do that as they signed 29 players, including six 5-stars, 14 4-stars, and nine 3-stars.

Georgia football was successful on National Signing Day because of these three reasons.

Even though Alabama and Texas A&M signed three 3-stars each, Georgia isn’t afraid to go after them because the coaching staff proved they could do more with less.

Not that 3-stars are less, but Georgia isn’t afraid to take a chance on some of these players because they know with the proper development, they will be talented college players. Alabama and Texas A&M do a great job developing, so we’re not saying that either, but the Dawgs are just doing it at a better level.

Head coach Kirby Smart stuck to his recruiting method, and it paid off again. He didn’t need to use NIL deals to land highly-touted prospects or anything like that. Instead, his reputation spoke for itself. For the fifth recruiting cycle, he landed a top-3 class, so Smart knows how to recruit at an elite level.

Georgia picked up all its needs to reload. Some of these players will contribute right away, but most of the success this group will bring is in a couple of years, so this class’ success was essential to the program’s future to keep them competing at an elite level.

The Dawgs are staying consistent, and while it’s nice to be recruiting kings, this year wasn’t about earning the No.1 class, because that wasn’t happening with Texas A&M doing whatever they did.

Here are three reasons Georgia football was successful on National Signing Day, and they did what they needed to do.
