Georgia football is one of the last four teams in the running for 2023 5-star quarterback Arch Manning. Clemson, who was in the race, and Florida, who claimed to be both, didn’t make his final four that surfaced this weekend.
Some Georgia fans are like, why would the Dawgs be in contention when the quarterback room is too packed with former walk-ons, 5-stars and 4-stars? Why wouldn’t they be?
The Dawgs are one of the hottest teams in college football right now, and by the time Manning would get to Athens, a lot could change. With Gunner Stockton and Brock Vandagriff in front of him, the quarterback room would be pretty tight, but the competition would be incredible.
Georgia football remains in the hunt for Arch Manning because this relationship is built to last.
Head coach Kirby Smart and his coaching staff have already made it a point to let Manning and his entire family know just how important this recruitment is. They’ve gone to countless basketball games and just have begun to build a lasting relationship.
Manning is a Manning. His uncles are Super Bowl quarterbacks, and his dad was a baller in his own right, not to mention his grandfather and all that his namesake did. If Manning were to go out of his comfort zone and pick Georiga, it would be one of the most potent moments in recruiting.
The four teams still in the hunt are Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss and Texas. Throughout the summer and fall, these were four schools he took visits to. He will likely be an early enrollee, so the sooner he can decide, the better because wherever he goes, Manning will likely be on campus in Jan. 2023.
There have been other schools attempting to get into the mix with Manning, but 247Sports suggests these four programs are who he will focus on, as in just a few short months, a decision will get made.
Ole Miss would be home for Manning as his grandfather, dad, and uncle Eli attended and were Rebels. The Mannings have built a great relationship with Lane Kiffin and it would also be a pretty massive pickup for him.
However, of the four he chose, Alabama and Georgia are the only two contending each year. Ole Miss has improved, and well, Texas is Texas, but if Manning wants to contend and win titles while in college, there are two teams to consider.
Georgia, however, has made a massive push to get to know Manning and just be supportive as coaches. Of course, we all know it’s part of the business, so it isn’t that unique, but man, the Dawgs would be lethal if Manning came to campus. Getting a name like Manning is exceptional, and for now, the Dawgs are in contention for him.
