The Georgia Bulldogs have 10 golfers in the field for the WM Phoenix Open this week, and a Dawg could end up being the Peoples Champion.

Among the 132-man field, the 10 Georgia golfers are Brian Harman, Harris English, Russell Henley, Chris Kirk, Kevin Kisner, Keith Mitchell, Sepp Straka, Brendon Todd, Hudson Swafford and Bubba Watson.

Georgia could likely have the most players from one school in the field this week, which gives them an even better chance that one of them will win this tournament.

The WM Phoenix Open, better known as the Peoples Open, is one of the PGA Tour’s best events because it’s loud, full of incredible golf, and the fans are allowed to do what they want.

Most PGA Tour events abide by the traditions of golf, but not in Phoenix. They love to have a good time, and it’s become one of the top events all year. It’s like a mini Ryder Cup.

Players wear jerseys and stuff for the par-3 16th where there is a stadium surrounding the hole, and it’s incredible.

The Georgia Bulldogs have a few players who could pull the upset and win the WM Phoenix Open.

Swafford was the last to win among the 10 Dawgs in the field as he took home his second American Express victory.

The nine others have seen a few top-10 finishes, some top-20 moments, and a couple of them haven’t played their best golf, but this week TPC Scottsdale plays to a lot of guy’s favor.

Among these 10 Dawgs, five could sneak up the leaderboard and win.

The guys who could do that are Mitchell, Henley, Watson, Swafford and English could do it. Harman is also someone who could surprise someone.

It may seem weird to have most of the names listed as potential winners, but five of those six are playing outstanding golf right now.

Harris English

English is the only one who hasn’t played his best recently, but that could all change this week.

He has one top 20 finish at this event but missed the cut last year. TPC Scottsdale is a hit or miss for him, but if he can come out with some aggressive play, he could end up shocking some people and getting another win.

English was so hot heading into the Ryder Cup, it’s understandable why he has cooled off, but this week in the desert could be a game-changing moment.

Keith Mitchell

Mitchell popped up on the PGA Tour’s Expert picks this week, and after his last few finishes, it’s understandable. He fits the mold of former champions as he is long and straight off the tee.

Mitchell finished with a top-3 at the CJ CUP, T7 at Sony Open, T12 at Pebble Beach and T12 at the RSM Classic last November. It’s only a matter of time before this one gets the win, and it could be this week.

He just needs to play his game and be smart with his shots. If he can minimize the mistakes, Mitchell will be high on that leaderboard.

Hudson Swafford

Coming off that big win earlier this year, Swafford should have a lot of confidence. He may have missed the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open, but a week after a victory, he gets a pass.

I really like what his game looks like right now, and if he plays as he did during the American Express, consider him a contender right now.

Russell Henley

Much like Mitchell, Henley is playing really good golf right now. He finished second at the Sony Open, T7 at the Houston Open and T14 at the American Express.

Henley needs to trust himself because he is hard to beat when he plays with confidence. I like his chances to shock some people this week and get that victory.

Bubba Watson

The Dawg most likely to win this event has to be Watson. Watson hasn’t played much since August outside a trip across the pond to play in the Saudi Invitational, where he finished runner-up and a couple of exhibitions in December.

So Watson is fresh and he likes this golf course. Watson has made 13-of-15 cuts in this even and has 10 top-25s and five top-5s. This course and he just fit well together.

Watson has the perfect opportunity to win this one and prove he still has a few tricks up his sleeve. It’s his time and it’s been far too long since he won. As good as he played overseas, hopefully, Watson brings it to TPC Scottsdale and gets the Dawgs another victory.

Georgia has so many players in the field that could bring home the trophy. The Dawgs constantly send players into the PGA Tour, and this week we get to see them in droves.

While there aren’t many professionals picking any Dawgs to win, there is a sneaky suspicion that one could make it happen.
