Georgia football lost two of its biggest defenders to the NFL Draft in Jordan Davis and Devonte Wyatt. Now the Dawgs must find their replacements. While there is some depth at the position, outside Jalen Carter, the rest need to rise to the occasion.

It’s not that they aren’t good enough. These guys just haven’t quite had the opportunity to yet with the guys in front of them. However, now they do, and this spring will be huge for them.

Will they do what they need to do to become starters, or will they lose their jobs to true freshmen?

That defensive front is one of the countless things that made the defense so good in 2021, so this 2022 group has to find a way to come together and show they have what it takes to be elite and keep this entire defense one of the best in the SEC.

These three Georgia football defensive linemen need to step up in 2022.

Georgia’s defenses stuffed teams for 78.9 rushing yards a game in 2021 and 190 through the air. The Dawgs recorded 99 tackles for loss, 49 sacks and 263 quarterback hurries.

That group did a great job at making sure they got to the quarterback, and it helped them win a national championship. Now, this 2022 group needs to do the same. Defensive line coach Tray Scott will have these guys ready, as you’ve seen what he does with 3-stars, but these three must want it at the same time.

There are other guys like Bill Norton and Tymon Mitchell who also need to wake up in 2022. It’s time for them and these three on the list to realize this season is the one where they make it or get passed.

These three guys should be the upperclassmen who step up and continue the solid front legacy Georgia created the last couple of seasons.
