Georgia football could see as many as 15 players drafted in the upcoming 2022 NFL Draft, and a third of those guys could go in the first round.
In Todd McShay’s latest mock draft, the ESPN analyst predicts that four Bulldogs will get drafted in the first 32 picks. It is behind the paywall, so those who have ESPN+ can read the whole thing.
With the NFL Combine ahead of us and the individual college pro days, this number could increase or decrease given the performances.
McShay is one of the most respected guys when it comes to his mock drafts, and when he gives the Dawgs this much credit, it deserves a discussion. With those four projections in the first round, it gives Georgia the most right now.
Alabama, Michigan, Washington, and Ohio State are behind the Dawgs, tied with the second-most projections.
Georgia football sees respect in the latest mock draft from ESPN’s Todd McShay.
The first Dawg off the board was Nakobe Dean at the 15th overall pick by the Philadelphia Eagles. McShay thinks the Eagles will acquire the pick from the Miami Dolphins.
Then one pick later, McShay has Travon Walker going at the 16th overall pick by the Eagles. So both Dean and Walker would be on the Eagles, which would be an excellent spot for them.
They already have that chemistry to flow well for that defense. Dean and Walker are two of the best in the draft at their positions, which means the Eagles would get quite the dynamic duo.
No team has ever taken back-to-back picks from the same team, but the Eagles need all the help they can get in the pass rush department so that it could be a smart move.
Jordan Davis is the next Dawg off the list at the No.20 overall pick by the Los Angeles Chargers, who traded this pick with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Chargers could use a big man like him on the defensive front, and it would be a match made in heaven.
Devonte Wyatt is the final Bulldog projected to go in the first round as McShay believes the Green Bay Packers will take him with the 28th pick.
Wyatt will be one of the biggest steals of the draft, even if he goes in the first round. His ceiling is high, and he has the work ethic to get even better.
The Packers need a good pass rusher and someone up front who can handle those offensive linemen, and Wyatt is that guy.
These four guys are highly talented, so wherever they end up, they should succeed. Georgia could have more than these four go in this first round, but the Dawgs are ready to produce another impressive draft class after seeing nine go in 2021.
The 2022 NFL Draft will be on April 28 in Las Vegas.
