Georgia baseball won in style on Saturday afternoon as the Dawgs defeated the Albany Great Danes 7-6 with a walk-off hit. The Dawgs have officially won their first series of the season and will play Game 3 on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

This group showed a lot of grit and determination on Saturday, recording 15 hits on the day.

Cole and Connor Tate, the identical twins on Georgia’s team, went 7-of-10, both hit homers and were a part of the two-out rally in the bottom of the ninth.

This duo was red hot on the day, proving how beneficial their experience is for the team.

Georgia baseball has a gritty team willing to battle all nine innings to win.

Albany struck first with scoring four runs in the top of the third inning to lead 4-0. Georgia had to battle back and did, scoring once in the fourth, once in the sixth, and then recording two runs in both the seventh and eighth to tie it up 6-6.

On the mound today, Georgia used five pitchers throughout the game, and they gave up 13 hits against 39 at-bats. They recorded 12 strikeouts, with Collin Caldwell leading the way with five in his two-inning outing.

Even though they were trailing after four innings, that deficit didn’t deter the Dawgs. Instead, they got back to work and showed they had a lot of fight in them. They hunkered down with the bats and kept swinging, eventually making a great comeback to stay undefeated on the season.

Those Tate brothers will both be lethal weapons for this baseball team and could help the Dawgs get some significant victories moving forward this year.

Georgia’s bats got them out of the sticky situation, which is something to be excited about moving forward into tougher competition. Right now, the Dawgs can figure out the right lineups, pitching rotations, and other things as SEC play lingers.

However, Saturday’s game also showed that you could not overlook a team no matter what division they are in because they showed Georgia they weren’t going to bow down and just lose this series.

The determination Georgia showed really what kind of team the Dawgs have, which could carry them far this year. Georgia has a solid squad full of talent, and seeing them fight hard right away is a good sign.
