Georgia football has been on a hot streak with recruiting, as the 2023 cycle is front and center. The Dawgs currently have the No. 2 overall and No.1 SEC class right now with eight pledges.

Plenty of offers have gone out, camps and other events are beginning, which means the recruiting world is steadily buzzing with information. While the biggest news from the recruiting front features a decommitment, there are other good things to discuss as well.

Coaching turnover sometimes makes kids reconsider their pledge, especially if their primary recruiter leaves for another job. On Tuesday, 4-star cornerback Kayin Lee announced on his Twitter that he would reopen his recruitment but still keep the Dawgs a consideration.

Georgia football has a lot of recruiting buzz surrounding the program right now.

Lee is a 5-11, 160-pound cornerback from Cedar Grove, who ranks on 247Sports Composite rankings as the No.144 overall player, the No. 17 corner, and the No.15 player in Georgia.

He was a big pledge for the Dawgs, and while it stings to see him open up his recruitment again, Georgia fans need to trust the process.

Head coach Kirby Smart is a recruiting genius, so if Lee is supposed to be in this class, there is a solid chance he will come back around and sign.

However, maybe newly hired defensive backs coach Fran Brown hasn’t gotten to reach out to him yet, or perhaps Lee doesn’t know much about him, so he is just taking precautions. It’s early in this recruiting cycle, and things like this happen.

Maybe Georgia chose to go another route with this class, and Lee is a better fit at another university. This circumstance wouldn’t be surprising either because a few prospects committed to the Dawgs but ended up elsewhere because they fit better in that program than in Athens.

It isn’t the end of the world, and by now, Georgia fans should know things like this happen.

Other recruiting news for Georgia football

The Dawgs are putting out offers all over the place, landing in big-time recruits’ top classes, and commitments are shining in various recruiting events.

Zavion Hardy announced that Georgia was a part of his final eight schools, joining Ole Miss, Jackson State, South Carolina, Florida State, Florida, Miami and UCF. He is a 4-star defensive lineman from Macon and is the No. 8 prospect out of Georgia.

Hardy is a name to keep an eye on because he has a lot of upside and could make a great addition to this class.

Bo Hughley shined at the Giant Skillz National Showcase last weekend, one of the Dawgs’ eight current pledges. According to 247Sports, he rated the top prospect, and his potential shined throughout the event.

He is a massive offensive tackle that could likely play either side of the line, and this past performance proves that. Hughley is versatile and gritty, so he already fits in with the current offensive linemen.

Some of the offers Georgia gave this week include Sydir Mitchell, a 3-star 2023 defensive lineman who is a big guy at 6-5 and 324-pounds. Georgia can always use a big plug on the defensive front, and he matches the kind of athlete defensive line coach Tray Scott goes after when recruiting. However, Brown will be a big piece of this recruiting, with Mitchell being from New Jersey and him having ties there.

Jacoby Davis, a 4-star corner, received an offer this week. A quarterback out of Birmingham, Ala., Christopher Vizzina, received an offer too.
