Georgia football 3rd round selections for the 2022 NFL Draft

Georgia football will see two players taken in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. They could even see their stock rise into the second round with solid workouts at the NFL Combine and Georgia Pro Day.

Some may even be shocked to see them this low in the draft, but the other mock drafts were even harsher. There are so many players to look through that sometimes these guys we know are talented because we watched them all season get overlooked.

Channing Tindall: #73 — Washington Commanders

Seeing Channing Tindall as a third-round draft selection almost feels weird even to write, but the mock drafts were not kind to him. Some had him lower in this round, but others dropped him to the end of the fifth round. Tindall isn’t the best linebacker out of Georgia or in the draft, but that nasty attitude he has on the field and his instinct should out him towards the top of the third round.

He played in a loaded linebacker room with Monty Rice, Nakobe Dean, and Quay Walker. Tindall didn’t always put eyes on him, but he came into his own this past season. He understands what it takes to play inside linebacker a bit better now, and that grit he has should make multiple defenses want him.

We’ve got him going to Washington at the 73rd overall pick because the Commanders need a strong linebacker in this class. While they will likely select another one early in this draft, it could be good to grab Tindall here and see what he can do. He is another guy that I think, with the right staff, will blossom in the NFL and have a long successful career.

Some other teams that could pick him up are the Titans, Broncos, 49ners or the Seahawks.

Quay Walker: #67— New York Giants

Three picks into the third round of this draft will be when Quay Walker likely gets taken off the board. He is better than this third-round projection, and Georgia fans know it, but it’s because he had to wait his turn that other mock drafts have him here.

Walker has excellent size and has better instinct than Tindall, so he projects higher than his teammate. The Giants need a solid linebacker and could select Walker as the No. 67 pick to give them another linebacker for this class. That team knows how strong Georgia players are, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see them take him at this point.

If Walker can show the scouts and NFL teams that some of these weaknesses are fixable, he could go up some, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see him fall either. Most mock drafts have him in the third round, but a few even dropped him further.
