1. Chicago Bears

One of the first teams that could snag George Pickens in the 2022 NFL Draft is a spot that loves former Dawgs. The Chicago Bears likely have an immediate need for wide receiver help, given the potential departure of their veteran, Allen Robinson.

Starting quarterback Justin Fields will be entering his second NFL season in 2022, hoping to improve on a shaky rookie campaign. If Robinson does move on from Chicago, Fields’ options in the passing game will be limited.

Darnell Mooney had a breakout 2021 season, especially considering Chicago’s passing attack ranked 30th out of 32 teams in terms of yards per game.

Pickens being a big-framed, outside threat would complement Mooney’s game as a smaller, underneath receiver quite well. Combine that with an already solid ground game via David Montgomery, and the Bears could be a fun offense to watch in 2022.

Fields will need to take a step in his development for that to be true, but the first step to putting him in a position to take that step is surrounding him with playmakers.

Chicago knows what kind of players come out of Athens, and Pickens reputation speaks for itself, so the Bears could be a team that takes the risk on him in the second round. Plus, it might warm the hearts of Georgia fans to watch a Fields-to-Pickens connection become a reality. Too soon?
