Georgia football: The 5 most epic away games since 2000
2: 2007 Georgia football OT win over Alabama
Georgia football’s second most epic road game win has to be the 2007 overtime win over Alabama. The Dawgs won 26-23, and it was a perfect pass from Matthew Stafford to Mikey Henderson in overtime that made it all happen.
Before the national championship win over the Tide, this game was the last time Georgia defeated Alabama. To beat a team like Alabama in overtime is an incredible feat, and that pass proved to be one of Stafford’s most defining moments as a Dawg.
He went 19-of-35 for 224 yards, two scores and two interceptions. Sean Bailey led the Dawgs with five catches for 74 yards, but Henderson was the hero that night. He finished the game with three catches for 36 yards and one score.
Henderson made a great play and caught that ball in overtime, and it was one of the best moments of the 2007 season. He will go down as a legend in the Dawgs history books because of this play, and we all appreciate him making sure he made that catch.
This SEC showdown is one of the most epic games because Georgia doesn’t usually win these games. Still, another perfectly drawn-up play allowed Stafford and Henderson to do something big, and they did.
The celebration was also incredible, and Georgia fans there thought it was all over, and then the Dawgs found a way. This game is memorable and deserves to be on this list because it was epic.
Anytime Georgia beats Alabama, it is epic, and when they do it in overtime, it becomes a matchup no one forgets.
