1. 2017 Georgia football vs. Notre Dame

The most epic away game victory has to be the 2017 Notre Dame game when the Dawgs beat the Irish 20-19. Dawg Nation took Indiana by storm as they traveled by the masses to watch this historic game.

For the first time during the regular season, Georgia and Notre Dame played each other, and it produced one of the most epic games until the Dawgs beat them again in 2019.

It was Jake Fromm’s coming-out party, and he showed what kind of weapon he would be at quarterback. This game was also the moment we felt the 2017 season could become special. Here comes this true freshman quarterback making his first start in college in the first road test of his collegiate career and was able to lead the offense to victory.

Fromm went 16-of-29 for 141 yards, one touchdown and one interception. His lone touchdown was the memorable one-handed grab from Terry Godwin — the first instance that made this game epic. That touchdown catch was an instant classic, but that catch was probably one of the best ever from a Georgia receiver.

While the offense put up enough points to get the win, it was the defense who secured the victory. The Dawgs’ defensive leaders Davin Bellamy and Lorenzo Carter left their mark on Notre Dame’s offense, and quarterback Brandon Wimbush, both of them, recorded a sack and forced fumbles.

Carter recorded a strip-sack early in the second half, but it was Bellamy’s fourth-quarter strip-sack that Carter recovered with 1:27 left, and that was the moment that made it an epic matchup.

However, Georgia wouldn’t have gotten it done without the fans who traveled and turned Notre Dames’ stadium red. Georgia players talked about how much it meant to see them there and how awesome it was to see the fans light up an opposing team’s stadium. They were loud and made sure the Irish knew they were out there.

The fans made that whole Notre Dame road game experience epic, and that is the last reason this game is No.1 on this list.

With head coach Kirby Smart in charge, Georgia could see more epic road games in the future, and it’ll be exciting to see if any land on this list. The Dawgs have transformed from 2000 to now, and reminiscing the journey only makes you love this team even more.
